WNC Organizational Safety Training
With the rise of authoritarianism, we all have been working to pursue and protect ourselves and democracy. We are increasingly being asked to take to the streets, defend our neighbors from deportation, and some have even partaken in acts of civil disobedience. Impacted communities like BIPOC and LGBTQ folks have been particularly targeted, but the truth is that none of us who oppose this current regime are safe.
In order to address these challenges, Indivisible Asheville-WNC, the WNC Nonpartisan Voting Group, and Carolina Jews for Justice have connected with Blueprint NC to ask them to offer safety training in WNC. So far we have come up with the following plan:
This training on January 15th from 7 - 8:15 pm is geared to organizational leaders who are interested in increasing organizational security culture which includes digital safety, anti-doxing measures, situational awareness at events, emergency safety planning for staff, etc.
We plan to offer a second training in early February to individuals who might be interested in an inter-organizational, diverse safety team that could be available to respond at rallies, protests and in other ways. Please reach out to Lisa Forehand if you/someone from your organization is interested in being a part of this effort.
