After RSVPing below, you will receive a link by email to indicate what you'd like to bring, and soon after you'll receive event location information.
CJJ-Triad is proud to support our neighbors in the Hiatt St Mobile Home Park who are facing displacement. After almost nine months of trying to find a solution that would allow them to stay - the Hiatt residents have determined that they will need to relocate in the next few months. Eight families are still in their homes, and we know that moving trailers, moving a whole household, paying deposits at a new location, and getting electricity and water hooked up have already cost some of the residents who have found places to relocate to upwards of $15,000–a crushing amount for many of these families, who have had to go into debt to afford to move.
We join our partners at Siembra and America Friends Service Committee in the goal of raising $30,000 additional dollars by the end of June. These funds will make a difficult situation a little less bleak, will make these families’ transitions smoother, and will show them that the broader community values our Hiatt St. neighbors, and want to do all we can to continue to support them even as they are sadly relocating away from our area.
You can read more about this campaign and donate at http://tiny.cc/donate2hiatt. Send an email to [email protected] if you donated and would like to receive one of the campaign t-shirts which are pictured here at the Shabbatluck. See you then!
Accessibility notes: CJJ recognizes and respects the many ways members of our community observe Shabbat. We fully support individuals who decide to participate or not participate at this event due to their own level of observance or comfort. This mask-optional event will be held outside, under a shelter in a public park, with restrooms available adjacent to the shelter. Please stay home if you are sick or not feeling well.
