2nd Night Seder - NC Jews for Survival and Beyond

2nd Night Seder - NC Jews for Survival and Beyond

What makes this night different than all other nights? This question we ask frequently during the Passover seder takes on a new meaning this year. COVID-19 is exposing the social, economic, and political crisis our communities have been bearing for decades and more. We believe that as Jews we can neither shy away from our cultural & religious events at times like these (points of resiliency for many of us), nor can we pretend that they are happening in a vacuum.

Carolina Jews for Justice has been hard at work with NC United For Survival and Beyond  a statewide coalition of over 130 grassroots organizations (sign our petition here!). We want to take the opportunity of Passover to sit at the intersection of the wisdom of our traditions, ritual, and lineage as Jewish people and the visionary leadership of our current movement for Justice.

Join CJJ for an online Passover experience on 2nd night (April 9th) that will tie together the Passover seder, our people's story of Exodus and crisis, and the current political moment and the work we are doing with the NC United for Survival and Beyond coalition. We hope this online program will offer Jews in North Carolina connection to each other, our culture, as well as the political demands CJJ and our grassroots partners are making.

As Michael Walzer reminds us, “We still believe, or many of us do, what the Exodus first taught… about the meaning and possibility of politics: first, that wherever you live, it is probably Egypt; second, that there is a better place, a world more attractive, a promised land; and third, that the way to the land is through the wilderness. There is no way to get from here to there except by joining together and marching.
