Postcards and more!
JOIN THE INTERFAITH VOTING ACTION NETWORK (IVAN)
for our first election protection action opportunity
on WEDNESDAY, MAY 29 from 4:00-6:00 PM
A POSTCARD WRITING PARTY!
IVAN is a collaboration of Carolina Jews for Justice, Congregation Beth HaTephila, The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville and recently expanded to include friends from Quaker Call NC. We gather to meet with other interfaith concerned citizens and learn about opportunities to get involved with safeguarding our elections process in Western NC.
On Wednesday May 29 in a nonpartisan effort, we will join together in central Asheville (address provided upon registering below) to write postcards to Black NC voters identified by the organization “Reclaim Our Vote” in their “Pledge to Vote and Do More” campaign. Our target will be to write at least 20 postcards each person for a total of 1,000 postcards. People can take extra postcards home to finish, if needed. Please bring your favorite pen/markers/stickers. Donations are gratefully accepted ($10 suggested or you can also bring postcard stamps to contribute too), but not required.
There will be additional future opportunities for networking, and to take action depending on people's interest such as tabling at events in Buncombe and Henderson County to register people to vote and assist with obtaining sufficient identification, canvassing, poll protection work, and reaching out to Western NC county election boards.
