CJJ-W Shabbat Potluck Gathering
Join us for our June Shabbat potluck in honor of Shavuot, the ancient Jewish holiday celebrating both the the Torah and the first harvest. Yes, Shavuot actually occurred June 1 - 3 this year! But it is loaded with meaning for CJJ folks because the Torah is the foundational source of Jewish ethics, including the ancient teaching that Jewish harvesters leave the bounty of the four corners of their field for those who have less.So when you come to this month's potluck, please:(1) bring a dish to share (with an ingredient list),AND, in honor of Shavuot,(2) healthy non-perishables that don't need to be cooked and are easy to open.We will be donating these foodstuffs to Beloved Asheville's Street Pantries, and CJJ member Duffy Baum will talk briefly about her experience as a Street Pantries volunteer. You can also pick up postcards for a huge fall campaign by Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger. And, of course, there'll be lots and lots of time simply to schmooze!
