Truth Justice and Reconciliation Durham/Chapel Hill Branch Meeting
CJJ members have been invited to this community event by the Beloved Community Center. This event is not hosted by CJJ.
Here are some reflection questions in preparation for our meeting:
Who is already doing this work in our area that we need to reach out to? Who are other mentors, stakeholders and allies we should contact? How will we ensure that our TJR work intersects with and amplifies existing TJR work in our communities AND centers vision creation, abolition, and reparations? How will we create structures and processes that ensure those most directly impacted by systemic racism are at the helm?
How will we include youth and cultivate intergenerational multi-race, multi-gender, multi-class, multi-faith, cross cultural leadership and participation? How will we raise money to support organizers to lead this work? How will our branch provide support for white identified folks that do not have much experience with examining their own whiteness and racism?
How can we disrupt, transcend, and reimagine systems and leaders and hold these systems accountable now?
How will we integrate healing, ritual, story, and art into our work?
