CJJ's Annual Purim Party + Siembra NC Benefit
Please join us for CJJ’s annual Purim celebration! Purim is a Jewish festival held in the spring to commemorate the defeat of Haman's plot to massacre the Jews -- a story about a(nother) time when oppressive government forces tried to commit genocide against an entire people.
If that sounds familiar to you at all, you’ll understand why at this year’s Purim Party we’ll also be raising funds for our partners at Siembra NC and sharing information about how to get more involved with CJJ’s immigrant justice work. We’ll be collecting donations at the door on a sliding scale from $10-$20, but ALL ARE WELCOME!
And if you’ve never celebrated Purim before, take note: it’s an excellent opportunity to dress up! Costumes are a fun part of the tradition, and we encourage your creativity! Just be mindful that costumes that are culturally appropriative or insensitive are not welcome.
So disregard your “but-it’s-a-school-night” reservations and come dance, eat hamantashen, spin a gragger, and celebrate justice and liberation with us!
