Action Hour for the Durham Global Equity Project
The Durham Global Equity Project is a bold movement to make Durham into a "teaching city" for systemic racial economic equity, striving for radical, local-level change.
Led by NCCU professor Dr. Henry McKoy, the DGEP strives to bring in investment to areas in and around the Fayetteville Street Corridor, without displacing the community and while ensuring their needs are at the core of all development plans - in short, to work to repair the damage that gentrification, urban renewal efforts, and suburbanization has historically caused to the Black community in Durham. As part of this effort, the DGEP has submitted a proposal to the Durham Housing Authority linked here to develop Fayette Place into the research and development hub of the project.
Join the CJJ Durham/OC voting rights group in an Action Hour on November 16th, where we'll write letters in support of the proposal to the Durham Housing Authority. RSVP below!
